When Artwork Goes Bad

Yes, we all make bloopers. We all make choices that make us go ‘WTF?’. I’m guilty of it as much as anyone. Sometimes, things just don’t work out. Way I look at it, you can do one of two things, either continue and try and resuscitate the dieing artwork, or simply start from scratch. Here are a couple of abandoned concepts that just never worked.

WW concept – turned into a different concept

Chun Li illustration – Pose wasn’t working for me, will start from scratch.

Poison Ivy Concept – I have absolutely no idea WTF I was thinking here. This was a very old concept, I’ll put it down to being young and foolish.

Workshop 5: Movie Poster Madness!

I like seeing fan made posters of upcoming films and past films, I like seeing some amateur (or sometimes even professional) using promo photos and other elements and coming up with a completely different design to what gets officially released, in fact some of the ones I’ve seen end up looking better than the real stuff the studios produce. So what makes a good fan poster? Personally, the good ones look like the real thing, someone who’s taken the time to make things look official. In this workshop I’ll give some tips and tricks to give your fan posters more of an authentic feel to them.
